Summer League 2011

League play will start on June 25, 2011 and will end September 10, 2011. This season the OC Curling Club will have a total of 12 teams. The teams are split into Two Divisions. The teams will play each other once within their Division, with an “Upset Week” in Week-6. The top four teams from each Divisions will play in the Championship Rounds in Weeks 7, 8, and 9, while the other teams will be playing in the Consolation Rounds. We will have three bye weeks this season July 2, July 30, and September 3. Also for this season, we will switch up the scheduling so that teams in both divisions will play in the same Draw so we can all catch up, socialize, and broomstack at Woodie's.

In order to get to the Championship Game, Millar Time, who finished in Second Place with a 4-2 record in the “Take Out” Division, beat ShamRocks in the Quarterfinal Round, and In Da House in the Semi Final Game. On the other side of the Draw, Rock Solid who finished First in the “Kizzle Kazzle” Divison with a 5-1 record, beat Loose Ends in the Quarterfinals, and Rock the House in the Semi Final Game.
The Championship game between Millar Time & Rock Solid didn’t disappoint! Millar Time got things off to a great start by posting two points in the First End. Rock Solid wasn’t going to let them slip away, and scored a single point in the Second End. Millar Time came back with a point in the Third End. Again, Rock Solid answered back with a point in the Fourth End. Millar time was leading by one point after four ends of play, and turned up the heat. Millar Time scored a single point in each of the Fifth and Sixth Ends to lead the game 5-2 going into the Seventh End. Rock Solid dug deep and came up big with a two point Seventh End, and came within a point of Millar Time. With that, Millar Time had the Hammer, leading by one coming home. After trading shots and takeouts in the Eighth End, Rock Solid’s Skip sent his last rock deep, and Millar Time took the last point for a 6-4 Win over Rock Solid.
